Working in collaboration with Mizuno Technics Co Ltd, Casio has developed the GW-S5600-1JF and is the first example of the new RM Series - "R"esist "M"aterial. The entire strap and the connecting pieces have been engineered in Carbon Fiber with the buckle, the case back side buttons all constructed from Titanium Alloy. This stunning combination has created a watch that weighs in at a feather light 47g yet still tests the limit of shock proofing and durability. Wave Ceptor MULTI BAND 6 (US, EU, JP and CN)

Introducing the GRAVITYMASTER, GPW1000 – The World’s First GPS ATOMIC SOLAR HYBRID with CASIO-original GPS Hybrid radio-controlled technology built inside a TRIPLE G Shock Resistant structure. This unique technology combines Multi-band 6 capability to receive any one of six time calibration signals around the globe with a receiver that acquires position and time information from GPS satellites. When GPS information is acquired the watch determines your current time zone and judges whether or not your location requires the use of summer time, and updates watch settings accordingly. The combination of these two capabilities and underlying tough structure creates a hybrid timepiece designed and engineered to ensure that you are on time all the time, no matter where you happen to be. Absolute Toughness with Universal Accuracy.

A couple of caveats here, this watch is very nice and one of the finest G Shocks, however it is overpriced. It is basically the same watch that is available at less than half the price in other models. Also, the manual is in Japanese only so unless you can read in Japanese you better be quite familiar with the 5600 series in order to figure out how to use each of the many features. I had no problem figuring out the operation as I have had numerous G Shocks over the years. But if you are not familiar, it could be a problem. I do not know if an English version is available on line? The difference is that this model has a carbon fiber band which is a vast improvement over the usual resin band found on other G Shock models; and has a titanium case back as opposed to stainless steel. The resin band on other G Shocks is weak point and tends to be the first part of the watch to wear or fail and the titanium back is of course much lighter than stainless steel. This gives the watch a feather light feel. So if you really want a carbon fiber band and titanium back then you will have to brace yourself for a substantial increase in price.

CASIO’s shock-resistant G-SHOCK watch is synonymous with toughness, born from the developer Mr. Ibe’s dream of ‘creating a watch that never breaks’. Over 200 handmade samples were created and tested to destruction until finally in 1983 the first, now iconic G-SHOCK hit the streets of Japan and began to establish itself as ‘the toughest watch of all time’. Each watch encompasses the 7 elements; electric shock resistance, gravity resistance, low temperature resistance, vibration resistance, water resistance, shock resistance and toughness. The watch is packed with Casio innovations and technologies to prevent it from suffering direct shock; this includes internal components protected with urethane and suspended timekeeping modules inside the watch structure. Since its launch, G-SHOCK has continued to evolve, continuing to support on Mr. Ibe’s mantra “never, never give up.” www.gshock.com .
